Find the perfect home away from home.
Hall life is fun, exciting and an awesome opportunity to make life-long mates from all over the world. Living in a hall means that you have a supportive living and study environment – in other words, someone helps clean up and there’s academic support on tap such as hall tutoring sessions – which is a great way to transition to university. UC offers six halls of residence – all of which are located just minutes away from campus.
If you’re looking to go straight into a flat, there is a good selection of affordable rentals located on-campus or close to UC. Rent for on-campus flats at the Ilam Apartments start from $150 per week, include your power and phone and come fully furnished. Rent for off-campus flats usually start from around $110 per room a week, plus bills and food. It’s a good idea to get in early because great flats are snapped up pretty quickly.
Homestays (or private boarding), where you live with a Kiwi family, are also an option and there are many situated close to uni and in other parts of the city. Homestays can be particularly comforting for international students. Find out more about homestays.
